Would you like to be the next editor of From the Lighthouse, the Durham University English Society’s literary magazine?
Responsibilities include creating themes and content calls; diligently advertising the mag; website management and design using WordPress; magazine design (on your preferred software); organising the annual competition, judges and prizes; helping run DUES as a member of the exec; and, of course, creating, editing and proofreading the termly mag yourself, overseen by the society committee.
You don’t need to have a great deal of experience: I didn’t know much about WordPress and desktop publishing software before becoming editor, and I’ll guide you through the basics. You do, however, need an eye for detail, and huge amounts of enthusiasm, organisation and dedication. If you’d like to share this responsibility, we would consider a joint application for two co-editors, provided that you can both handle the added time-management, teamwork and organisational demands. You must also be a non-finalist student at Durham University at time of application.

* any relevant experience (especially in editing/proofing, publicity, website management, and design, if you have any);
* a few brief sentences about yourself, why you want the role, why you would be suited for it, what you can bring to the position, etc.
